106 gti - The whole car shaking & no acceleration

   Basically, all of a sudden last night, when you apply the gas, The whole dash/steering wheel, pedals etc. all vibrate like mad, the engine sounds like a diesel, and when you floor it, it doesnt pick up speed as it used to. Any ideas?

   Could be an engine mount bust. Check the mount under the ecu.

   i thought engine mount at first, but that wouldnt explain the lack of power. do you think a diagnostic test may be a good call?

   sounds like a missfire. mine has done this before. needed a new coilpack

   Does it sound normal when it's just idling?

    at idle, the whole car is shaking. dash, pedals, steering wheel. idle isnt lumpy or anything and doesnt sound like a scooby. just sounds like a van! really am baffled

    If it's doing it at idle then I would suspect a missfire
    As above, diagnostic test needed

    Or an air leak, check around both manifolds for escaping air.
    
    However my money is on missfire

    take the spark plugs out, the missing cylinder one will be black and wet, it might tell you something

    cheers guys. when i serviced the car 6months ago, 2 of the spark plugs were all oily anyway.
    
    if its a misfire, wouldnt it be chugging like a tractor?
