right was having convo with mate at uni today and im after getting new car may time only thing is need diesel as i do 100 miles a day going to uni and back but i will miss my saxo

    SO

they do 1.5 D saxo and when my mate had same engine in 106 wasnt to good but was eco friendly lol

anyone done a turbo kit on one before or is it possible??
  2. #2
Course its possible. May aid mpg slightly, but then you would get carried away boosting everywhere, BAR TOOSH

what is the standard engine like would i have to upgrade loads of bits to do it or would i be able to put turbo on and just run a low boost for starters then go from there???

    get a 306 td

yh was looking at 306 and also bora but never seen saxo 1.5TD so thought would find out as i like a good old project on the side lol

Boosting it would kill your mpg, factory turbo cars run very little boost so its not as much of a issue, but if your going to spend £££ turboing it would you really only have it on low?

yh i wouldnt want to run it low but if the standard engine can run it on low boost then i would run it like it until saved up bit (or waited 4 months for next student loan lol) and then start engine work

    Not worth the ballache mate
Get a diesel which already has a turbo

If your looking for good fuel economy but still have a bit of go have a look at the 1.1 petrol. There much quicker then then 1.5D but still get great fuel economy. I used to drive one regularly from the North East down to London as it was so cheap in fuel. Servicing and insurance is next to nothing as well.

lol at i already have the 1.1 and sucks for the motorway and thats where i do all the miles so need something with more poke looks like i will be leaving the saxo scene BUT this whole 1.5TD still might happen see how uni mates feel as i do motorsport and few lads might be up for the project

converting a 1.5 to td will not be easy, be much easier to boost the 1.1

1.5 d in good cmdition should return well over 65 mpg anf i have had light footed customers who had them and maintained they got 70+ all the time
so if tyou have a 1.5 d thats not doing better than a 1.1 petrol --its not a happy one --but yes they are no speed machine --economy + bhp do not go togther --you must burn fuel to make bhp -you cheapest way ,if yo insisit is to find a new style t.d unit with all the ancillaries +fit that

Better option would be to stick the C2 HDi diesel engine in.
