Clutch problem? Not sure! Help!

Basically, coming to a roundabout, went to change down to 2nd from 3rd, and it felt as if it would not go into gear. Managed to coast into a carpark and have a look..

When engine is off i can put it into gear, if I then start the car with clutch in itll jolt forward (as it would if u started car in gear without clutch in)

If i try change gear with engine on it just won't go into anything with the clutch fully in.

If it is the clutch how much of a job is this? I'll be doing it myself most likely as I have access to any tools that i'll need..

pretty sure it is the clutch.. anyone got a rough idea on a price at a garage? got quoted £295 by one.. can get a clutch off ebay for £45 :/

Iv done the clutch on my S recently, took a day to do. When i did it on my old R took 4 hours. Its not too hard if you have a Haynes and a couple of trolley jacks, most difficult is getting the damn box back on!

Dont have a clue about garage prices so cant help there.

A garage i give most of my business to dropped my clutch in for £80 cash in hand. 40 for the clutch off ebay that's 120 in total.

A couple of years ago i was getting quotes around £200.

my friend had this in a bmw wont had happened was the clutch plate which is normally really rough had been worn completely smooth ended up costing him £400 but thats cos its a bmw im having mine done next thursday for a different resason for £150
