Do you do lots of short journeys?
    What colour smoke?
As you can also get the mayo if the car doesn't get up to temp, to burn off condensation.
    Try an oil change first.

I do quite a few i drove it for around 10 mins covering about 3miles and stopped to check it, there is white smoke but there is very very little and just when cold, it doesnt appear to be like gunk just whiteish oil on the lid and looking at the water level it appears quite clear green/blue colour

Id give it a good long run and maybe change the oil see if it sorts itself out first

Just sounds like condensation on the oil cap.

Smoke sounds like nothing to worry about, especially if it does it on cold mornings.

Just keep an eye on water/oil levels and report back if it's using a lot of either.

If you travel short journeys without allowing the engine to reach operating temperature the mayo on the oil filler cap will eventually appear (its not good for your engine) but not going to kill it, as for the smoke... if its only smoking in the mornings/ first start then not to worry, its when it starts smoking all the time you drive it that you want to worry
