VTS Overheating

Hi all, I have a 1999 saxo vts and it overheats while stationary. I have changed the thermostat and the temp sensor and bleed it all through properly and the fan is working as I have bridged a wire and the fan comes on. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks

You are using coolant and not just water?

Take the header cap off, Try and smell for petrol sort of smell

Sounds like head gasket has gone and its building pressure up in the cooling system

If the head gasket had gone wouldn't you get a creamy colour in the oil and the heaters in the car would blow cold wouldn't they?

yeah would blow cold air through heaters, plus pull a water hose of ur thermostat n see if creamy coulour inside n also check the amount of smoke cuming outer ur exhaust.. Hope this helps..

Only creamy if mixing with oil.

Get a 'sniff' test done on coolant, plus compression test

Sorted it out, was the cooling fan relay. Thanks for the replies though
