Pressed plates?

  1. #1
Has anybody used a-z plates before for pressed plates?

If not I want a set which are basically legal style(UK font, reflective backing) have the black pinstripe around the edge, but have no GB badge or any of that makers name and BSAU numbers on the bottom if anybody can recommend a place for about £20 a set.

    Cheers

anybody got the ebay sellers id?

As for dubmeister, i checked last night and to get ones without the makers name and BSAU number its more as theyre classed as showplates and not reflective iirc. :/

Mate, you are looking in the wrong place then. On the dubmeister front page it says "Legal UK Pressed Plates"
And once you select it you get an option of having a GB badge or none.

Why dont you want the makers name and number thing?
Thought you need them otherwise they are illegal?

You do, dubmeister ones are barely visable tbh.

Yeah i remember reading up on them because i heard you had to have certain ones.
I plan on getting myself some of dubmeister pressed plates, dont want to get pulled over or fined like .
Is the name and number right down in the corner or something?

Yepp the name and number is on them really small, barely visibile from a distance, but its there so if you get pulled, you can be like, look at this mr officer.

I have some from Craigsplates, you can choose the style and if it has the euro sign on it or not and i got mine the next day for £26, havent been pulled over for them and they dont have any lettering on there that isnt wanted so no makers names or numbers, just the pressed letters and Euro GB sign on them (you can choose if you want any badges on them or not) definately reccomend them

You do need makers name etc to be legal, but I think it looks cluttered and prefer to have them completely plain(i absolutely hate plates with big shite fonts, crap badges and slogans all over). If however the dubmeister ones are not very large I may get them there. Craigs plates ones do sound what i'm looking for, will check when I get to a PC.

Did you choose french plates for this on their site or what mate? and are they deffo pressed?

Been thinking maybe I could do with some of the completely legal ones, is there anywhere you can get them with a subtle makers name etc? but without sending away all the documents as I cba to risk getting them lost.

you need to prove you own the car, so you dont go out and rob a car and swap plates aha if you go into one of the shops on the dubmeister site you can just show them the documents though?
  15. #15
Yeah thats true but some ebay sellers dont give a shit, but then with eBay its sometimes pot luck whether the product is decent.

How do you mean shops on their? And as in I can just send them a photocopy?

    Cheers

Mine are pressed mate, they have the choice to add a badge at the side or not, so i chose the euro GB sign and my reg number on a pressed style plate

I have found a seller which will sell fully legal ones without any proof of ID:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

The only problem is I did a bit of research, and compared to other pressed plates, these don't look as good.
    Ebay ones:

    Others:

I've therefore asked this seller I mentioned in the original post which style his are, but he appears not to reply :/

Tbh mate those plates dont look right, i'd definately recomment craigsplates, i'll try and get a couple of pics of mine for you in the morning/afternoon when its light and im back from KrisB, those look like raised plastic not pressed metal.

I've got ebay ones on mine, in propper UK font, okay they might not have the BSAU mark on them but they went through the mot fine

I've since changed the F badge for GB badges.

Karl, yeh thats what i thought, do yours look more like the plasticy first ones or the more pressed second ones?

Kris, its hard to see from the pic but they look a bit like the first ones....do they look any good in person?
