Wheel offset meaning?

#2How wide the wheel is basically - the distance from the center of the wheel to the face of the wheel.
The lower the number, the wider the wheels are.

#4So Gary would an Audi A8 wheel fit a saxo?
The wheels are 7x16 et 42....They are new Audi fitment of 5x112
Can u make them fit??
Thanks -
#5No as the pcd is wrong, you'd need pcd adaptors, the width of those may bring the offset to a more desirable one
-
#6Thanks buddy, but u can make them fit?
Cheers -
#7Have to search pcd adaptors 4x108 to 5x112 may not be readily available and be quite pricey
-
#9I'll have a look now buddy, I've done a new thread about it just too see if anyone knows any more

#10No! The wheels can have a et of -15 and still only be 6 inches wide.Quote:How wide the wheel is basically - the distance from the center of the wheel to the face of the wheel.

It is how far off from the centre of the wheel that the wheel face is i.e where you bolt it to the hub.

#11Nahh you can have a 6-7j wheel with an offset of 0, say standard vauxhall are et49 and saxo around et15, doesn't affect the width of the wheel, say if you put 206 wheels on a 106/saxo they will be more tucked in the arches as the offsets higher

#12It's why 90% of the team dynamics on here are sold with spacers to correct the offset,as most are bought from halfords there sold with say a ford offset instead of ordered in the correct wheels for your car they just give you spacers to correct the problem (which is shit)
