Gearbox fell out

  1. #1
on the way to training today, i had my gearbox bolts snap on my VTS Mk1, and had the Gearbox dragging along the floor, Managed to get it home, fortunately No other damage was done apart from a driveshaft popping out.

The bolts that snapped where the 3 that bolt the mount to the box, I need to know what size they are so i can go to citreon, i been told by my mentor to get them from citreon as they are hardened bolts.
So if you can let me know the size of the bolts it would be much appreciated, need it back on the road asap.

Just go to Citroen mate and ask for gearbox bolts, they normally dont like it when you go in with part numbers or sizes anyway!

Have a look at the sticky in the engine section made by raunchz, should be in there the exact bolts you need

BTW, if they havnt got them instock which they may well not, they usually have to order them in minumums of like 10 etc and you would have to pay for all of them even if you needed 3. They have some wierd pricings too, gearbox bolts to the block are like £50/£60! Might be worth firing a PM to swampy, or if you need them tomorrow going to a DIY shop or something.

I assume i can get the studs for the box as well from them?

had same problem happen about month ago shered 2 out of 3 and one was hanging on by like a tread. luckily it had pulled 2 out off 3 studs out the box as well so only had 2 get new studs/2 new 13mm nuts and drill the snapped stud out and tap it with a thread insert..

Trying to remember now how the gearboxes are. IRC the 3 studs are on the gearbox and then the mounting plate slides on and nutted on... if thats the case I dont think you can get replacement studs. Might have to find somewhere that sells studs, bolts etc and find the correct length to suit the nuts you just quoted me on. Either unscrew your old ones, or maybe drill them out if thyre completley sheered then tap the hole out. If you cant get studs then get bolts, saw the heads off an use a die to set the thread on the bolt lol..long winded!
