Check Strap F'd

   Well since ive had my car its been bugging me that my drivers door has no check strap on it, everytime i try vaccing car inside its a pain in the arse to do the drivers side cos door keeps closing and today the door nearly got ripped off cause there was some really bad wind, and the door basically has no resistance with out it..
   
   I know the doors been ripped off before after seeing this. and its actualy a different shade of gold compared to the rest of the car, so im guessing whoever replaced the door did a half assed job, as theyve left it like this

   Now i really want a new check strap fitting but its not as simple as just buying a new one and fitting it. The old one seems like it got ripped out when the door came off in some accident, its in a pretty bad state tbh.
   
   Anyone got any ideas what i should do to get it fixed?

   maybe a new door then or take the door card off and see if the strap can be removed

   Where all that rubber shit is in the car body is where its been yanked out and made a hole theres 2 bolts that hold it in usually.

   yeah your missing botton bolt is the thread damaged?

   Its been completly ripped out mate, theres a massive hole, and its been filled with that rubber stuff.

   maybe you could put a big washer and bolt behind the hole to screw the torx bolt into if you know what i mean then that should hold it if the hole isnt too big, if not id go for another door if the paint is a different shade anyway.

   If the bolt has just been pulled out of the thread then try run a bigger tap in the hole and use a larger bolt (I cant really see from your pic). If that doesn't work then look into fitting a land rover cable strap they just rivet to the a pillar and the door and work fine mate pretty cheap too.

   i think my bro uses 2 bmx cable wraps on his clio sport. The clio doors open so wide its crazy and they look the nuts as there just a piece of nylon but are branded and look unique.
