  6. #6
The first two lobes from cambelt are facing away from each other with the timing locked n correct

what a picture of the lobe on the camshaft to see what they look like, also is there marking on the camshaft? like the number 97 on the shaft itself?

    Pic

Cams in times up position. These look right?
  9. #9
This still doesn't help me choose which cam is inlet n exhaust n is the above right as my engine is idling shit!
    N it's Not a sensor,inj or leak.

I've got two sets of j4 which are both different as in markings. Lobes look same position
    N jp4 set!
  11. #11
same postion? the postion dont change the lobes change i.e. the lift of the lobe, and the tip on the lobe will be different, i.e. stand lobes are pointly as such and ph3 are more smooth for a longer duration.

the postion of the lobes will be the same, it the shape of them will be different for different specs.

so they are not in the head? if not look at the end which free not got the thread in, see if there anything on there end?

    What?
I hAve 3 sets of cams
    Jp4 j4 j4

I want to know which cam is inlet and which cam is for exhaust
There is no markings on cam saying e n I
How do I find or which is which is my question

My engine is running like shit

I don't think I've got my cams in wrong way round but I'm making sure?
Eg inlet cam in exhaust ladder.

I've got j4 cams in picture.

looking at that pictures they look standard.
  14. #14
o i thought your question was if they are standard or uprated ones, in the pictures is that timed on the marks?
  15. #15
    Does say standard cams lol
Yes in picture the cams are timed.....
Do the cams look Wrong way around?
  16. #16
cams will only go in one way.
exhaust cam is the one at the front ( next to manifold )
inlet cam is the one at the back.

Will people read please. I'm not after which cam position is where

When the cams are not in situ and are out the car.
How do u tell which cam is which

N it is possible to use the the inlet cam in the exhaust ladder!!!
  18. #18
There's not a lot in them.

The jp4 cams have slightly wider lobes.

So you should have 4 normal, and 2 cams with slightly wider lobes.

Theres was a thread on the saxosportsclub with pics of the 2 different cams compared

I'm not after duration etc. Just which cam is which. Eg
The cam is exhaust. The cam is inlet. How can I tell?/
Not which cam is jp4 n which is j4 as there marked....

well just compair the set in your engine with the other ones you have, the lobes and angels will be roughly the same on both cams but the key at the end on the cam where the pulleys go on will be 180 degrees out

I sorted it now with a few words with citroen.

If the car runs normally off idle then that's unlikely to be the cause of your hunting issue.

Picture in thread is correct positioning.
