Had this once one of the springs in the clutch broke and got stuck behind the pressure plate fingers so stopping the release bearing from dissengaging the clutch. or the release bearing is fucked

Check the clutch cable first if thats fine box off job

Yeah, check your clutch cable first... if you get someone to press the clutch for you then you'll see the lever on the gearbox move. If it moves fine then it's likely your release bearing has gone through the clutch.

id try clutch cable mate, easy fix if thats the case

Yeh i will do in the morning mate.. I moved the clutch today with my fingers from under the bonnet and it made a kind ov scrapeing noise??
  7. #7
If it is the release bearing is that an exspensive job?
  8. #8
And duz this mean that the clutch is f##kd??

To be honest, a slight scraping sound from the bearing is okay, just if its actually loud then worry about it. Your fingers wouldnt of been able to operate the clutch.

And to answer another question... release bearing - you might aswell replace the clutch whilst you're there. I can do the whole lot for £190

Well i was able to move the clutch from the engine bay by my fingers so wat duz that mean mate.. Im from ireland unless you want to travel..(",)

You moved the gearbox fork the clutch cable attaches to ??

Get someone in the car to press the clutch pedal in and out and see what its doing

    Oh yeh sorry...

Ok,it goes into gear when its off but wont when its tickin over.. And when i try start it with it in 1st and clutchd it starts jerking,i done that today with the clutch and its working fine and the clutch when you press it it doesnt feel any diffrent.. What could it be like is it the gearbox?

Quick search and bump. Seems I have a similar problem. When the engine is turning over, it's basically impossible to get it into first gear so I have to pull away in 2nd most of the time. If the engine is off I can select 1st gear no problem. Also when going throught the gears from 2nd, 3rd and 4th there is some crunching. Is this a f**ked clutch, gearbox, clutch cable? Any help appreciated

either release bearing or synchros in the gearbox is my guess

Can these be fitted/fixed or is it a new box?

Clutch is on its way out m8 , that's the start , u hear grinding yet?

    When going into reverse?
  21. #21
Yeah mate. Was difficult to get into first. Now it has got worse with 1st,2nd and 3rd being problematic at times. Don't know wether to get a new clutch or will it need both a clutch and box? Any ideas?
