Decat and MOT.

  1. #1
Basically I have a VTR and it has a decat pipe, and my MOT is due in 2 months time.
To save myself hassle, ideally I don't want to be changing the decat pipe as it's been welded rather than bolted :/
Are MOTers willing to accept a little extra cash to get the reading from another car/ignore it etc?
Any help would be appreciated, and I apologise if this has been asked/explained a thousand times before!
    Nathan.

I know a guy well who works at the garage, but he doesn't do the MOT's.
I'm just inquiring as to whether they're lenient towards doing such things, as I hear about people doing it all the time.

Yeah it seems as if I'm gonna have to, unless I can somehow borrow and fit a cat, which I don't see as being done easily due to the whole pipe being welded :/

    Thanks anyway guys.

Is there anyway it can easily be done if the straight pipe is welded on?
It just seems a lot of hassle

    This is retarded.

I know a man who'll do what you're asking, but I'd never put it on the fucking internet! You're basically asking someone to chuck away their MOT test licence and commit fraud, because you're gonna give them a few bob?

    Jog on.

Once again, I'm not asking who will do it for me... I'm asking if they're willing to ignore it...

I have heard that there are MOT testers who are willing to do it
That's just from other people though, they could be lying.
The only way to know is to ask an MOT tester, the worst that will happen is that they will say no and you have to get it changed anyway

    Thats aboutit really.

Worst the tester will say is no.
Back street, is more likly to say yes, unless you know a tester its not that easy.
Ill only let something get away with a green slip if, i know them, and know them well enough to know, if vosa stopped them, they wouldnt say ahh yeah, they passed it, i changed it after actually. And if any work needed doing, id get cash in hand, and id do the work later that week.

Yeah I think that's gonna have to be the case, I'll just have to ask around and be a bit delicate around the subject of mentioning the decat pipe.
    Thanks for the help

Yeah I get what you're saying, it's not like I'm asking them to pass something that could potentially cause an accident or anything like that.
    Thanks also

back street garages usually dont mind with decat pipes, its when you've got serious damage and bogged fixes lol
