hello all, i race an ax running a 2003 vtr engine with a completely standard loom ect just a standard road car with a roll cage, last year i raced a saxo, my problem is this year now that all the running gear i have has been put into an ax iam slightly to shortly geared meaning iam hitting the limiter about 10 to 20ft before i need to be, iam currently running a 20cb22 gear box which iam about 90% sure is out of a mrk 1 vtr engine, iam thinking of swaping it to a 20cb45 gear box which is just a spare box ive always had iam just wondering if its going to be to long geared?? how much more will i be able to get out of second gear with that box, if anyone knows anything close to that answer i will love them for life!!!!! aslo if any ones the diff number for ethier box would be a great help!!
gearbox / diff help please!!

#2The VTR box is if im right.. a longer ratio box, im not actually too sure if theres another box that will do what your wishing for, if there is.. great.
If not? you may have to consider a new ECU and a remap for what RPM you want. -
#3thats the problem because its a standard class i cant do anything with the ecu because it has to be as it was off the road so i cant do a re map because it will be against the rules, as there are so many hundreds of gear boxes i was hoping that someone might know a box that can give slightly more in second gear than a vtr box, the box i have spare is a diesel box so i thought it might have a long second gear, thanks for the help

#4I Don't believe there is a longer ratio box. The diesel box is the same but with a different final drive.
In the FAQ's at top of page there is a gearbox ratio calculator type thing.

#5what iam prob going to do is strip them both down and count the teeth in the gears and see if there is any difference, and hope there is lol thanks for the help!!
