does putting a 1.1 box in a vts make it accelerate much quicker?and will it not fall apart?please reply sum1 cheers!
1.1 gearbox in vts?
-
#1
-
#2it wont fall apart and it will improve acceleration but not offer much in terms of top speed.
Speed limit in the UK is 70mph anyway so it doesnt matter man :Y: -
#3cheers mate but will it be greatly improved?worth buying one?also will any 1.1 saxo gearbox fit a 97 vts?cheers
-
#4no not greatly improved as they are not much shorter than the vts one
-
#5yup as Ad says it fits straight on , although it's not that much shorter than the vts 'box. much cheaper 2nd hand though

any saxo box fits any saxo mate. -
#6106 rally gearbox much better??
-
#7yes it's shorter. depends how much motorway driving you do though, because bear in mind you'll see higher revs at 70mph with a shorter 'box. all the MA boxes are the same strength too so you don't have to worry about that.
-
#8cheers mate sorry to keep posting but i am changing my clutch tmrow so thought i would do the box aswel.how much increase i a talking 0-60 with a rallye box?
-
#9no idea mate sorry, bear in mind the vts 'box is short to begin with so although you'll notice a difference, it won't be as big as say putting a vts box in a vtr. for the cost of a rallye box, i wouldnt bother tbh, i'd just go for the 1.1 box.
-
#10sorry for the
but would it take long to fit a new gearbox if you hadnt done it before?
-
#11get a haynes manual mate, it would take a good few hours though yes.
-
#12ok and i have one,best bit of money i spent :Y:
-
#13I wouldnt mind a VTS box
-
#14Ad never mind the 'box, it's the engine you need
. mind you, you couldn't run it on chip fat then
-

ahaha. i love my engine... feed it veggie oil all the time
:
Because of the type of runs i do im pretty sure the 5th gear on the VTS box is an overdrive ratio so i can get EVEN BETTER economy out of my beast. possibly

#16Fuck all between the VTS and 1.1 boxes except top end, get a s1 rallye box if you're a real man! lol
-
#17Well there is a slight difference between the VTS and 1.1 boxes.Quote:Originally Posted by Ax_beefyFuck all between the VTS and 1.1 boxes except top end, get a s1 rallye box if you're a real man! lol
The cogs are the same on most gears but the final drives are different:Y: -
#18like I said except for top end lol... unless the box is fucked then I don't think its worth the hassle or the cost
-
#19i'll go with that :Y:Quote:Originally Posted by Ax_beefylike I said except for top end lol... unless the box is fucked then I don't think its worth the hassle or the cost

#201.1 or vts in a vtr which is better all round ie accel and top end?
-
#211.1 slightly quicker acceleration, vts slightly longer top end. if you don't want to compromise the top end that much then go vts, although no-one really drives around at 100mph anywayQuote:Originally Posted by saxomac821.1 or vts in a vtr which is better all round ie accel and top end?

#2270 is the speed limit.Quote:Originally Posted by adsayerit wont fall apart and it will improve acceleration but not offer much in terms of top speed.

#23im thinkiin about traack days only here lol,
ive never been over 70 in my life! -
#24the 1.1 will take to your top end sooner... so my advice is to go for the 1.1 still i reckon :Y:
