hi all. before i do anything rash i need an unbiast opinion and who better to talk to than saxo enthusiasts..... i have a phase 2 (y plate )vtr and the head gasket went (ohh dear)... my question is.... can fixing the head gasket immobilise the car?
Head gasket.....immobiliser????

#2can fixing a mechanical problem, incur an electrical problem.
unless, someone fucked up bad somewhere, it shouldnt effect anything. -
#3a thought as much.... a bit of a stupid question but a just need tyo ask a few things so a hav a full picture....
1st- what are the causes of an immobiliser setting off?
2nd- how common are imobilisers faults* in a saxo?
3rd-in order to sort the immobiliser you would need the keycode... can only certain saxo dealerships provide these codes (i.e i live in falkirk, scotland- could i only get the code from somewhere in england?)?
4th- would non compression in the engine cause the car to immobilise?
(* the only reason i said immobiliser fault is because i have been told this is why my car will not fire. key inside a box flashing on my dash when i turn the key) -
#4so the immobiliser isnt working.
check fuses, is the fuel pump priming?
on the ignition, you can unclip and pull the black surround off, inside this will have a copper insulated wire, wrapped up. check this isnt snapped as it gives the signal from the key to turn off the immob.
i took mine off, and stripped the wire and soldered it back on, before unlocking my ECU and removing the immob!
citroen keep them on the shelf, iirc around 16 quid. common as fuck! -
#5the immobiliser is working a suppose, the fuel isnt priming, thots?
a havnt checked any fuses as its still at the guy a gave it to to sort (amazing job hes doing
)
al be going up tomorow to find out whats goin on as i sent he car in to get sorted 3 weeks ago... in my opinion the car should be fixed??
but il check that anyways, thanks, the only reason i ask is the guy tht i sent it to sent it to an auto spark and he claims tht he had to get the code from england :s...
also can the engine immobilise itself if there is no compression and you try to fire it up?
p.s can the ecu only store 5 diffrent keycodes????? -

#7anyone?
-
#8he could have dissconnected the battery wich could have thrown the imobiliser on try resetting it some how or check fuses, the simplest of this should always be checked first lol
-
#9how wpuld you go about resetting it though?
and is there any particular fuses to look at?
