Vtr-Vts

  1. #1
I have recently bought a Vtr to replace my old and knackered 1.1, I have been thinking about what i could do to it, it is still completely standard which is a rare occurance these days, i was thinking of dropping a vts head and ecu onto it, any suggestions?

if you can't afford the insurance don't think about modifying anything unless you plan on not declaring it,in which case, best you get aquaintted with the following procedure
    1/step out of car
    2/hand keys to police officer
    3/cry a bit
    4/choose lubed or dry
    5/feel excruciating anal pain
6/pay large fine and get 6 points

seriously, wait till you can afford insurance then get a proper S conversion,or better still, buy an S

    good advice that

as its quite a big upgrade from you 1.1 i would say yea get an S in it, but i bet no doubt it feels alot more powerfuller than your old car so i would recommend doing breathing mods, then suspension and brakes, so say buy a decent exhaust system, janspeed, raceland to name a few, 4-2-1 manifold, race centre section, possibly even cam the vtr as the police or insurance wont even know its been done.

then get it mapped, along with a decent suspension setup and bigger brakes, along with some nice rubber on the wheels. because a fast car isnt just about power, handling comes into its own on the twisties. and you will favour more from a decent handling car with moderate power than a car with shed loads with tiny brakes and soft springs. unless you live on bypasses (like i do) so powers everything ;d joking. keep it on track.

not much that will catch you for the same kinda price range

Thanks guys! well i was planning on doing the mods once my insurance is up for renewal and when i have one years no claims, it is quick and the handling is great. I cant do too much to the exhaust though because the girlfriends dad will kill me! so maybe i will just stiffen up the suspension, lower it and put strut bars on it and uprated brakes. Thanks for the advice!

There is a lot of improvement to be made with suspension, and especially brakes.
Also, check with your insurance company. The one i'm with atm wont charge me extra unless i increase the power of the car, so suspension, alloys and brakes etc are all fine.
However... companies like direct line just wont insure you if you have a modified car.

well my suspension is a lot firmer than my old suspension, and the brakes actually work unlike my old ones, my foot used to drop more than 75% of the way down before they would even start binding lol, i will definately keep you posted on the progress, i just hope i get payed soon so i can start the process! i cant wait!!!
