Re-spraying Alloys

  1. #1
Hi, im going to respray my alloys, just wondering if there any prefered kind of paint to do so?

was planning on doing a few coats of white primer on each, then some black (gloss or matt? no idea yet could do with some suggestions) then a few coats of laquer on each?

i read a thread on this a while back which helped alot, but just asking about what makes etc are best for doing this with, and gloss or matt black?

    thanks

i would say use grey primer as it will make the black a bit better

If you're using rattle cans I've found halfords to be reasonable for the price sprayed my front bumper to widemouth it and it turned out great and if your going for black I'd personally do them Matt as when you use gloss they're usually much blacker than the tyres which looks sh*t imo but its your car at the end of the day hope this helps

i would go for gloss over matt, as matt looks unfinished and dirty on alloys. But then again thats just my opinion

Why does every one say use halford's paint. Its utter shit the paint has no body has no real gloss to it and is way over priced.

Go to your local trade paint supplier and ask then for some u-pol / body line primer and some u-pol / body line black trade spray either satin or gloss.
(Matt is not good for alloys because brake dust can bond to it easily.)

With both u-pol and body line paints you get a 600ml can and its around 2 quid cheaper than halford's for a bigger can and better quality paint.

Yea as Bedford says! Valdosta is overpriced rubbish. Other motorfactors will sell equally or better products cheaper

I dont mind halfords paint it does the trick, depends on the finish and colour variety you want. As for the wheels white or gun metal grey

+1 on gun metal grey, best colour to do your wheels if youre going for the dark look imo
