tail light problems :S UPDATE

    as the side lights and brake lights run off the same bulb, this is a bit of a wierd one. basically my passenger sidelight works but brake light doesnt, sidelight on drivers side doesnt work but brake light does.
    anyone have any ideas?

    iv bought 2 new bulbs too but its still the same. also everything works on my dials etc except the background light, why is this? is there a relay for the light or what. and yes i have tried the dimmer wheel im having a few electrical problems at the moment which is really annoying me now

    am i right in thinking i have a bad earth somewhere as my central locking is now playing up, go to lock it and it unlocks itself, do this a few times until it stays locked. any clue where to find out this problem?

    Check the bulb holders for corrosion if needed clean them up with emery cloth.

    mine wouldnt get a solid connection and it kept going on and off, not the same but no harm in a 5 second check

    maybe a bad earth, rub it down with a bit of emery cloth see if that helps..

    if u mean on bulb holders, theres no rust or anything

    i had this problem and is was due to wrong bulbs you need double filament bulbs as one bulb does 2 things

    i know, these are brand new double filament bulbs but it still doesnt work. all other electrics like central locking has gone nuts , really pissing me off now!!!!

    Can you post a pic of the bulb installed - i replaced mine the other week and realised it was possible to fit the bulb in two ways depending on how much pressure you apply to the fixing, there is a sprung metal element at the rear that will either be compressed (and in contact) or loose and intermittent. A long shot but could be worth checking if yo uhave exhausted all other avenues?
