Engine oil, what do you use ? Found some cheap

I normally use a 5w 40 valvoline Syn power or castrol 5w 40 edge both fully synthetic.

But I was in a wikinson high street store at the weeked & noticed they had shelves full of carlube triple r 5w 40 fully synthetic for £15.47 for 4 litres which is a damn site cheaper than what I normally pay.

I have had a quick read about it & it seems to meet Porsche spec etc.

Anyone else used it ? I once used the Halfords fully synthetic ( never again !) it just made the car smoke on hard gear changes. Changed the oil , problem solved.

I use the halfords motorsport 5w/50 oil. I used to spend £50-£60 on Millers, Gulf or Fuchs but I thought I would give it a go and change it straight away if I didn't rate it. Seems to perform exactly the same (ok I don't have a clue what's going on inside), but engine runs smooth, performance hasn't decreased (RR'd with slightly more power on same rollers - many factors that could change this though). Best thing about it, its only £15 with a trade card

I'm a proper arse (or mug for the cynical) with oils.
Started when I went from god knows what to Silkolene ProS. Smoother engine, and more MPG's. Stuck with it ever since. Won't go cheapo ever again. Same for gearbox oil.

Isn't 5W40 and 5W50 really thick oil though?
