Power Steering Pump - Intermittently Working

   I replaced my powersteering pump about a month ago and it has started playing up in the last few days, it keeps dieing and coming back,
   
   It will run for five minuets and then die for a while then come back for a bit then die again,
   
   when its working you can hear the pump whining, then when it dies you cant.
   
   Could this be an airlock in the pipes from when i replaced it, does the system need bleeding if so how?
   
   When i replaced the pump we pinched the pipes to stop air getting in but it seems it may have is this the issue?

   Try bleeding it but if you`ve fitted a used 1 then the brushes may be sticking.

   how do you mean the brushes may be sticking? what are the brushes?

   Their inside the pump itself mate,try giving the pump casing a tap with a hammer.When the pump motor become worn the brushes stick.

   mines like this but little worse av gotta hit a pot hole n mine works
