Gearbox.

Just wondering how much effort it is to replace a gear box, i wouldnt say im mechanically minded but im not exactly stupid.

Ive just emptied my bank account fixing my sax, new breaks/pads/discs etc, suspention, wheels, tyres, windowscreen, radiator, wishbones either side the list goes on.

After spending my last 200quid replacing bent wishbones i found out my sub frame on drivers side is buggered from a kerb smack yesterday so i now have to replace that..

After i left the guarage, car was driving fine, had a little wherring from somewhere but its been like it for a week or so and was told it was likely the clutch. i drove home about 15miles through towns/small roads etc and car drove and pulled without issue. i stopped at a shop came out and set back off on my merry way, the car suddenly started popping 2nd gear, i assumed i hadnt engaged properly and carried on. next set of lights the same sinario.
I popped into my local guarage and the technican there assures me its the gearbox. which would probably explain the wherring noise to be honest.

Im looking at a 1.4 gear box since thats the cheapest ive found thats local ish to me, and not having a decent enough car to go and collect that the only option i have.

As mentioned ive cleared what money i had to have other work done so im absolutely brassic now.. so if i get the box.. im gunna need to either suck a priest off or fit it myself..

so whats involved or should i just scrap the sax since the amount of money i have going out i wont ever be able to get money together to have a guarage do it.
