Mine has just failed MOT emmisions too high. Due to the engine not breathing and burning oil. Its not the exhaust as it is only 11 months old. It smokes slightly when in idle but the car has only done 75000. Any ideas would be helpfull . Thanks

#2Emissions is tested by Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbons (HC) or generally excessive smoke for over 5 seconds. What exactly has your car failed on?
If its high CO then its more likely a rich fuel mixture (faulty lambda, injectors, poor servicing or ignition)
If its high HC then its usually your CAT that needs replacing.
Excessive smoke (i assume you mean blue as you mention burning oil) - could be caused by warn piston rings, valve stem seals or something simple like a headgasket failure or wrong grade of oil. -
#3Hi Thanks for your answer all it has on the mot sheet is
001- Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive [ 7.3.D. 2c]
002 Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.2b]
003 Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive [7.3.D.2b]
The exhaust was replaced completely just 12 months ago.
