rev counter, fuel gauge, temp gauge not working

   its a mark 2 vtr
   
   ever since i changed the alternator...which now works, all gauges but the speedo don't work.
   
   one thing to note is that the fuel light IS ON.

   i've supposedly checked the fuse aswel, seems fine

   Unplug the battery for 1/2 an hour sometimes works(resets everything)

   hmm, my dad said while i was out he tried that...so i guess didnt work...any1 else?

   bad earth? my fuel gauge wouldnt work and i found it had no earth obviously the wire had broke somewhere so i earthed it and its been fine for nearly a year.

   My one did it and unplugged the battery negative side for half an hour with the lights on (to drain residual energy in the system) and they came back to life.
