Are these broken?

Was under the car today trying to find the cause of that elusive tinging noise and noticed these two things, firstly, this bush...seems cracked/perished to me, whereas on the other side it isn't. Could it do with being replaced?

Secondly, in the yellow tube which sits between the two torsion bars, I have come across this little ridge, or outwards dent type thing, not sure if its just rust caused it to bubble or is there a problem?

    Cheers

Ah i see, is it a hard job? Its only the driver side thats crscked but it doesn't look to be falling apart? Could this be causing my creaking at thhe back and tinging over bumps?

As for the second pic, thats releiving...i was thinking it might be the rear beam fucked and rubbing through that tube or something :s.

    As above

A ping noise is normally a loose arb or a failed bearing

Try and wobble the arms on the beam so the hub moves sideways in the car if it does new beam
If it doesnt theres a guide on tightening the arb in tbe stickies iirc

From your previous thread in this section it seems your beam is fucked mate

Alex...I tried tightening the ARB mate but the thread fucked so gonna have to retap it, ive tried jacking the car and wobbling the wheel if thats what you mean? With hands at 3 and 9 o clock there is no movement, and 12 and 6 there is like 1mm but that may be the wheel moving up into the arch as in like its meant to when you hit bumps etc?

why do you say this mate? The stepping out thread...i think that may have been me not used to the car and the harsh swerve at high speed? Reason I say this is like I mentioned above there is next to no play, the wheels have no camber and havent rubbed any paint from the inner arches, the car rides fine etc and my mechanic said it feels fine to him, the only problem i have is the tinging noise :/ theres a receipt for a recon axle under 2 years ago as well...

sounds like you're looking for a problem thats not there mate, sort the anti roll bar out and all will be good, the beam looks just like any other beam, surface rust and nothing else, as for the bushes, well, they look a wee bit past their best but not going to cause an immediate problem

I think you might be right mate, i'm trying to sort the clanging and in doing that I seem to be suspecting the axle as ive checked the end plates...i'm hoping its the arb that needs tightening, the sound is basically like as though something metal is loose and clanging on something else metal...would the best way to sort my arb thread to tap it to an m10 thread?

read the guide for tightening the arb in the stickys

stick a 7cm high stength bolt into the end of the arb behind the rubber screw, with 3.5cm of washers/socket and tighten it as hard as you can.
then for the bolt holding the end plate on, replace it with a good high strength one with a bit of threadlock and do that up tight

Ahhh that may be what I need to do, i was attemting it today with a b n q bolt...snapped 8 of them before giving up, and its still tinging...

One thing i've noticed is although the end plate bolts are tight the drivers side the hole seems to be quite elongated on it, is there a problem with this? Cheers
