Dude its a metal part of your engine, its attached to the head. Its supposed to be hot. Unless your cars over heating then you have no problem

Fella my first post was a serious question i thought you were just having a laugh, when you said its a real question (as well as calling me a 'fucking knobhead') i still answered and said unless its overheating dont worry.

    Back on topic.

    Yes it is normal
  13. #13
yeah thats normal pal, oil gets verrrrrrrrrrryyy hot whilst circulating the engine and obviously that also lubricates the cams and splashes around under ur rocker cover making the metal hot
  14. #14
mine also gets very hot on my vts,but im not sure if oil is getting out the actual cap :/ does smell warm, but i recently had a carrier bag attach itself to my exhaust so could be that stinking right ?

Had this before mate and the smell was horrid.. Burns itself off eventually or wait till the cars cool and scrape as much as you can off

Back to the original post topic, nothing to worry about.

    Steve.

completely normal, the fact that aluminium conducts heat extremely well and retains heat very well may be the reason why you think its too hot tbh

Mate it`s meant to be hot, have you ever noticed after going for a long drive & you switch the engine off you can hear like a creaking/knocking sound? It`s all down to expansion/contraction of metal coupled with hot oil flowing around the engine.

You should have a frost coil in place before the electric heater battery to keep the engine tepid at all times. Without this in place / operational it may get cold after prolonged stoppage. Would be best to replace the engine and radiator system John.

    Kind regards,

    Tom

    Hi,

Thanks for the advice and will keep an eye on it. Just some mornings when i wake up the cover is seriously cold!

Will look into buying a spare engine radiator incase i get that misfortune.
