Yo dudes, New to saxo's - Bought my self a MK1 VTS as a project type, Just starting to sort out some of the kinks and get my head round a budget type. Only mechanical problem seems to be a whining sound when going slowly through 1st/2nd? I cant figure out where the hell its coming from :/

most probs gearbox, change the gearbox oil to the recomended oil its menta have in it if that dont stop it try putting the next grade up (a bit thicker oil) in it and see if that quitens it up mate as ive put thicker oil in and its certainly quitened it up to the stage were you can barely notice it.
    hope that helps

Gearbox bearings highly likely - leaking driveshaft oil seal earlier in its life has drained the oil or it has just had a hard life?
ps Also an overtensioned cam belt can make a whizzing noise when the engine is revved - lift bonnet and give it a gentle blip.
