Fuel gauge help please

   I have a saxo 1.0 first i am only 17 this is my fir

   st car. the engine temp light was not working on the dials so took them out to check th

   e bulb found out they were leds and couldn't replace them, after putting everything back in when you turn the egnition 2 clicks the fule gauge goes back and forth 3 times then rests on empty even though i have £20s worth of fuel in thier please could anyone help really dont want to run out of petrol as i am a new driver cheers guys and gals.

   was the petrol gage working ok befor you took he dials out?

   yes all was working fine and i made sure it was all connected back properly when i put the dials back in.
