so its the same rules as normal plates. I was never sure cos i keep hearing people sayin the get pulled for them yet at shows when they have the plate maker shops they always say that they are legal

If the plates have GB marks on them & there made right, you shouldn't have no problems with them,
I have them on my car and ive never had any problem with them at all

Well my mate had the French marks on his plates when he had his pug and got a £60 fine and was told to remove them by the old bill, and if you look up on the net, they need GB marks on them if you have pressed plates

That is a little hard to digest, but doesn't that mean that they aren't legal in the UK, as they need to be made of 'retroreflecting' material?

I looked at getting some of these, but was deterred when the website I was designing them on stated that metal pressed were not legal on UK registered cars.

Mate i agree, ive never had any trouble with my cars with metal pressed plates, but french plates are a defo no no, you will be stopped,
& i guess if you have a mug of a copper you might get a fine, just buy some put em on but keep ur normal plates in your boot incase you get stopped and say you didnt know they wasnt aloud and you will swap em over,
Cant see him giving you a fine if you swap em over by side of the road, only takes a few seconds

if you buy them from dubmister they are legal ones, as they send u a letter to confirm and are all stamped up as by uk law too

Would have to be very unlucky to be pulled let alone fined for having pressed plates, just buy them for a reputable place and your be fine!

yeh i got pulled a couple of years back with having new plates, they were fitted a matter of a few hours but the coppers were pretty good about it and showed me their big black book. The problem is with the lettering, it needs too be a perticular size with plain background and if i remeber correctly something too do with the gap too, yes that means these so called anti-speed camera plates are illegal probably due too the camera issue i dont know.
I have yet too find the info online but i assure you it was in black and white and that was a good few years ago and knowing the law im sure they have adjusted that even more in their favour.Oh and if i remember correctly italics etc are also no go. Please dont quote me on this but i know the size and background for sure was an issue at that point.

Said it suited the car and you dont see many of those these days ( was an s1 Rallye ) then started to go on about his old 205.... r5gtt.... and then i still got a £60 fixed penilty!!

But ye he said it doesnt display where it was made, wasnt reflective, and showed a non GB singn

    Dubmiester do legal ones though!
