Reversing the car is making a groan/whining noise in the rear?

   Hey guys, i have had this problem for a few months now, and not sure if its worth getting it looked at, but when the car is warm, and i reverse my car, whether its parking or down a road i hear a whiny groan noise coming from the rear of the car.
   dosent do it when cold, anyone had this issue before? no problems going forward, just a loud groan creak when reversing?

   dont want to sound stupid but every car i have herd whines a little when they reverse and i have never known why

   Because reverse is th only straight cut gear in a normal gearbox
