rear axel or wheel bearing

   hi cud someone help me.. have a knocking on the back end off the driver side rear so went to jack it up to have a look and got hold off the wheel and from side to side no play but from top to bottom theres some play in it so cud it be the axel or bearing?so if someone cud help me please asap cos i was going to get it m.o.t before the bolton abby meet

   More often than not it's the beam, especially as you can only feel play up and down

   Is there a massive negative camber on any of the rear wheels? Could also be the rear ARB needing tightening..
