  1. #1
Hey, has anybody got pictures of headlight inserts sprayed in either black or possibly any posi blue cars with posi blue inserts? i have seen i couple and they look great, havent seen anyone done posi blue inserts i dont think. reckon they'd look sweet.

I think if you wanted to keep your bumper and rub strips black, then having the headlights (and rear lights) smoked (black) is the way to go. However, if you were to have the bumper and rub strips colour coded, then I'd look at having the headlights sprayed blue to keep in with the colour coded/blue theme.

  13. #13
    that would be telling.
  14. #14
haha spot on matt, have you got any pics of the whole front end of the cars. im going to colour code my grille you see, so was wondering what would look best. posi blue (to match car) or black (to go with bumper strips). what do you reckon?
  15. #15
Those lights look well good! Think i need to get some for my black furio, n black rears to match! :Y:
  16. #16
i wouldn't mind some black ones on my silver vtr but cant be bothered to pay 140. how easy is it? what paint/ primer do you need? and will it come off due to heat?

  20. #20
is it illegal to spray even the slightest tint on the lens??
  21. #21
there a 106 round here with them practically jet black.never saw it for a while ,maybe been impounded now.

cheers for the pimp points :Y:
  22. #22
Tha does look really nice, gonna have to do this soon
  23. #23
Yes i think its illegal to tint the lens as this affects the actual light. not too sure though.
  24. #24
to get the lense off u put em in the oven on low heat for a bit, or use a hairdryer/heatgun, oven is the easiest tho, u can do em ureslef blue then if u get borded do em black, i got sum inserts from the scrappy outr of broken lights £4 for the pair so if i ever sell it an they want normal lights ill jus wack em back in.

good plan that! i was going to but i cant find any at my local scrappies!!
  26. #26
could this be done to angel eyes? one of mine leaked, and the chrome is a bit rusty and dull so i wudnt mind doing this and painting it blue

    anyone?
  27. #27
i should think it would be easy enough! use the same technique but be careful when taking inserts out not to damage anything.
  28. #28
Wont the paint melt if you spray them and the bulbs are on for a fair amount of time? Also, will the headlights give out less light, as sprayin dem will stop them from being like shiny and reflective right?
  29. #29
its not that part mate your thinkn of the wrong bit. its the internal light surround. look at pics on previous page.
bulbs will not get hot enough to melt them! they dont get that hot!
  30. #30
o yea sorry, looked at the pictures after i had posted it and realised, thats cushty then will probs do them in the next couple of days, looks really nice and a good mod i can do with the little money i have lol :Y:
  31. #31
Spent today primering, spraying and lacquering mine. Finished quite nicely. Got some spare ones from Silverlake scrapyards of broken lights. Gonna fit them on tomorrow hopefully if my gf lets me borrow her hair dryer.
  32. #32
How do you get that bottom screw off for the headlights? Haynes manual says to remove the bumper but thats a pain in the ass to do and looking at the pics the bumper is stil on....so how?
  33. #33
can someone do me a photoshop of wicked red ones, ill put a pic up in the forum cheers.

get some pics up then mate! how easy is it to split the lense AND get it back together correctly? cheers
  35. #35
Get you a pic in a bit, wel on the scrapyard one headlight was fully smashed so I just pulled that insert out. On the other the rubber seemed already deformed, don't know if that was due to the heat so I pulled hard on the glass all round and it prised off.

Still not fitted yet as couldn't see an easy way to get my headlighs off, will try again on Monday.
  36. #36
maybe would have been better to get the one good headlight whole. as then you could have pratised taking lens off properly and replacing to see if its easy or not ! lol

what colour have you sprayed them pal?
  37. #37
Here you go, Wicked Red LOL I've left the masking in at the moment till the paint totally dries for sure.

There weren't two good headlights there LOL, most were Mk1 Saxos.
  38. #38
    look good matey

    whats with the name though??
  39. #39
mr bird looks wicked get them on the car and send me a pic,
  40. #40
Just a warning, if you're leaving the masking tape on until the paint totally dries, be careful cos when you peel it off it might take off sum of the paint aswell, its best to take it off before its completely dry, its not like any paint is going to run into places you dont want it to.
  41. #41
cheers for the warning! you got them fitted yet dude!?
  42. #42
thats a well gd guide
im just worried bwt when takin the glass apart and that wether when its all back together it might start misting up or something
  43. #43
When you take it off theres a rubber substance all round, just make sure its still all round when you put it back on.

Gonna try and get mine on today if it doesnt rain. Got a new headunit today as wel Sony CDX-500 so I wana get that fitted first.
  44. #44
Is it easy to put it back together once its all been sprayed? Duz the glue holding the casing together reheat and go sticky easily?
  45. #45
ive got my lights off but im finding it hard to get the lens apart from the unit. i can get some of the glue off the lens but its making the plastic bit all round all messy where ive bin at it with a falthead screwdriver and craft knife trying to get hte glue off the lens. any help????? can you put the light in the oven to warm them up??? or would this damdge the light???
  46. #46
heat it up alot more then mate! sounds like the glue is still too dry. heat it till it is soft enough that it should nearly just prize off. but go along the edges with a stanley knife carefully
  47. #47
ok cheers mate, ill have a try tomoro
  48. #48
maybe worth PMing Matt (MattWesty) as he has done loads!

  56. #56
look really good them. im really stuck on wether to do mine black or posi blue now!

yours look sweet as because your bumper and grill are colour coded! i am going to colour code my grill, but my bumper strips are black and i prefer mine like that TBH.

might do my lights black and my chevrons black to match with bumper strips

EDIT love your car SaxoBoy2005 exactly how i would do mine, but whats with Pug alloys? lol lovely flat arch!
  57. #57
thanx man! just thot a would do something differant so went with the pug wheels. a quite like them but think i will eventaully get some vtr ones.

hmmmm the choice of wether to go for black or blue.........personally a would say blue, cause a think the black would look too dark....a like how mine look slightly darker then the normal paint work (its not really a differnt colour its just cause it is in shaded area) thanx for the comments tho.

does anybody else have posi blue one on a blue saxo???? i feel soo special lol
  58. #58
i might ave 2 do mine in black as ma cars in suberu blue... an i cant remember which tone (apprently theres lots...i rang them up) lol

once i get a new gearbox clutch an ave ma head skimmed >.< (my car killed itself)
