gearbox leaking

    Yesterday i was driving and there was a noise that sounded like a bag of nails cruch then it was fine but 5 minutes later i could smell gearbox oil and see smoke, got home and looked and the oil is coming out of the gaps around the crank sensor. From what i know there should be no oil in the part as the clutch etc is in there so im thinking the gearbox has cracked???? it drips around 20 times a minute so its loosing the oil fairly quickly. It still drives fine though.

    Sounds like the gearbox has definitely got a problem.

    If you can't visibly see where the leaks coming from, then box off time.

    No point driving it as you'll be leaking fluid everywhere and you'll eventually kill the box

    Could be input shaft seal, although they don't tend to piss oil that quickly.

    The leak was internal, I have got the box off this morning and to my suprise there was a fucking star hex bit drop out smashed to bits! its hit a few teeth on the flywheel and cracked the side of the gearbox so the oil is seeping through, going to clean up the hole thing and get my bro to alloy weld the crack up. Iv saved the clutch etc so thats a bonus.
