vtr gearbox on vts

  1. #1
my friends gearbox mounts bolts sheered off today on his vts, leaving the studs in the box, box fucked anyway (diff bearings), so he is going to replace clutch and box, but ive heard that a vtr box have longer gear ratio's? or should he just stick with another vts box?
    thanks Tom

Definately stick to a VTS box if possible, i just got rid of my VTRs box and replaced it with a VTS box, the difference is immense and id never go back to a VTR box.

Im thinking of going for vtr box just forthe longer ratios for the mpgssss on the daily commute...

Adsayer, why avoid? Just read your mpg guide so i would love to hear why to stay away?

Got the VTS box on my VTR mate and its better at accelerating i wouldnt go back to a R box now as this box is far better.. Not really noticed much difference in mpg as its marginal

    Worth it tho

Vtr box is a really long box like the 1.5d box. But advantages of the Vtr box is it has better mpg on journeys. But the vts is a faster accelerating box.

Its pretty poor the vtr box on the vtr especially if the vtr is only 90 horse, but i dont think it would be too bad on a vts or gti as there is a bit of extra punch, best of both worlds for road use, im running a rallye box and constantly in powerband.

Would you guys say the better acceleration of the S box out weighs the VTR box better MPG ?, Mind you scott said MPG difference is minimal so..... Interesting
