Paint prep / Spraying procedure ?

Im thinkin of doing my front bump strip today either gloss black or posi blue being as i have some time on my hands. Ill take my time and not rush it.

When I did my interior console I used sugar soap to remove all the flash dash. Worked a treat they've never bubbled or anything.

Say if I washed the bump strip in sugar soap and throroughly sanded down before coating with primer, you rekon I can acheive a nice smooth finish still ?

Oh yeah, Posi Blue or gloss black ? ....... Or matt Black ?

sugar soap is fine to take any contaminants off the bumper just watch it on your bumper paint as it likes to make clear coat go milky.

and the way to do it is to rub them down wet with 240 until you get the plastic smooth. then dry it and mask up the area ( not on the car as you wont be able to get to the tops of the bum strips under the wings)
then a good couple of coats of plastic primer then after that has set 30 min's - 1 hour give a good couple of coats of primer filler.

once that has dried 24 hours give it a flat down with 600 - 800 wet and dry then dry and clean with a spirit such a meth's and mask up the area again then spray the colour base coat on until covered leave to flash off for 30 min's then give a good 3 to 4 coats of clear coat and leave to dry and de mask.

leave the paint to dry for about a week with it been aerosol before you polish / buff the paint up.
