Saxo headlights = CRAP

  1. #1
Holy crap, these saxo's have comedy headlights!

I drove the saxo in an area without street lights (B road) for the 1st time late last night and couldn't believe how bad the the beam/pattern is... as illegal as they are i can see why people may think of fitting HID kits.

My 106 doesn't have this problem, in fact the lights are pretty good on it.

True. Are you asking a question or just randomly posting a cool story?

Yeah I noticed that my old VTR had really bad headlights and both the bulbs were new
The GTI seems a decent amount better for some reason
  4. #4
This was the main reason for me getting HID's for my saxo when i had it! Headlights were so bad i didn't feel safe driving it on un-lit roads!

Just to redress the balance, mine are absolute balls on my 106, verging on dangerous they are that bad
  6. #6
Do you mean dipped beam or full? Dipped beam is shite but full beam seems fine for me

    Osram nightbreakers

Never had a problem with the lights and i drive on country roads late at night

Adjust the height of the beams maybe?

It was recently MOT'd so beam height should be ok.

My car was MOTed like a month before I got it yet still I found out one of the motor that allow the in car adjustment was un clipped causing the headlight to point straight down at the floor.

Clipped it back on and then found a guide how to adjust headlights properly all sorted now but before they were shittt beams all over the place.

    Heres the guide http://www.lifespy.com/2007/how-to-a...rs-headlights/

(You can adjust horizontally with the large white plastic things on the side closest the middle)

For a design thats over a decade old what are you expecting? The modern stuff is much better naturally, but as above make sure the height is adjusted right and they are clean. I am not keen on retro fitting HID's seen too many poor conversions that just do a good job of dazzling other drivers.
  12. #12
I expect headlights at least as good as my 1994 106 Rallye has...
  13. #13
    Mine were fine.
  14. #14
my saxo always loses it headlight alignment all mots its a fail for it i have it back and still have crap lighting. so i put xenon bulbs - still want a hid kit
  15. #15
I've bought/fitted twin headlights with projector light dipped beam, what a difference even with the std H1 bulbs fitted.
  16. #16
    HID's ftw tbh
  17. #17
mine r great got some HID-lookalike bulbs of ebay and even the standards r pretty dam good. cant fault it
  18. #18
if you think standards are bad, switch to angels.... they are 10 times worse

Same, I have angels and I feel very safe in unlit country roads/motorways with only my dipped beam.

  26. #26
Sounds like the lights arnt alined correctly? or the bulbs are cheap crap on there way out. Maybe wack the full beam on if needed
  27. #27
was just about to ask this question but saw this topic, very interesting as i have the exact same problem.

angel eyes but unless i have the fogs on its as though my lights are not on at all, the bulbs are that dim.

new bulbs needed? or are all angel eyes like this?...
  28. #28
My angel eyes were amazing after getting them altered
  29. #29
what do you mean altered? is that something you did yourself?
  30. #30

  32. #32
I have angel eyes on my saxo and they are rubbish on dipped beam, but fine on full. Was considering getting HIDs or just new bulbs.
  33. #33
myne were really bad untill i had them aligned properly and now their ace
  34. #34
Yea this is a problem i must do.

On a side note would anyone know why my halo eye fitted with a new bulb is very dim?
