Did the coppers say why they weren't legal?

They are legal providing they have the maker's stamp on, reflective, correct spacing and also the BSAU145d on it. If they had all of those things then you should of been fine.

That'll be why then... coppers are a bit funny about that. There is a type of solution you can spray the plates with that makes them unreadable to the fuzz or speed cameras (illegal of course), and they are usually on the lookout for it...

I've spoken to some coppers from around where I drive/live and they said that they'll probably pull me over for them just to check that they have the correct markings etc, and if they do and are the correct font etc then they'll let me go.
One of them even said, "It's a risk really on who pulls you, but if it's cool enough then take the chance!"

Ive seen the gear you get from Dubmeister, but it's 6mm thick, and i didnt think it would hold on for long, or if little cunts wanted, they can just rip your plates off?

yeah nothing stopping them ripping them off, but even if they were screwed on nothing stopping them, i did see something a while back like a saftey device, but it just wrecked the plate (normal plastic one)

That stuff would be much better, as the plate is gonna sit more flush to the car.

    Cheers mate.
