Faulkner 155lbs 35mm spring & Bilstein B8 shocks

The driverside spring seems to manage to keep unsettling the bearing from the top spring cup.

When the bearing isnt sat on the spring cup properly it makes a clunking sounds when i go full lock to lock, also the spring sits at a slightlybad angle when this happens.

Twice ive reset it in about 400 miles.

Anyone else had issues with something like this happening to them? Suggestions?

    Could the bearing be seized?

It felt fine when i built up the strut back in January, cleaned it up & reoiled it & all the ball bearings were moving smooth/freely.

I want to peg it up to something worn/broken since the other side has been fine. Just hoping someone might have had an idea before i do take it all to bits again!

i had this, i tried to stop it by using cable ties to the top and lower spring cups to help stop the spring moving/coming out the cups when jacking it up or when on uneven surfaces. in the end my drivers side decided to snap on me while going to work. ended up getting eibachs fitted to the car.

Well, the springs are actually staying in the cup fine, its the top cup & the bearing that are coming apart.

I reckon i'll just have to take it apart again and check it over

I have the same springs with group N billies and have never had any issues. Then again, I never jack the car up very high - I only use the first peg on my axle stands.

For the price of a new top mount and bearing, it might be worth renewing them and see how you get on.

If the spring is unseating then the length of the spring is too short for the length of the damper when its fully 'expanded'

If it continues to unseat a solution would be to get the damper piston shortened a little.

Its a pretty common setup though Willsy, as far as i know the B8 damper is a shorter unit than standard too?

Kam Racing even sell the setup as a "fast road" kit on their website. Also ive only had issue on the driver-side thus far too.

I wonder if maybe the spring is defective, its quite a crashy ride over Edinburghs roads, even really mild potholes etc
