Rubbing with new alloys

  1. #1
Ive just put some 16" alloys on my vtr and i put a fat mate in the back to see if it rubbed and id did. I pulled the rear arch liners out, an it still rubbed. I then noticed on both sideds what looked like a body mount stickong out close to the wheels and they were shiney were the tyre was effectively sanding them down. Worried that these would act as knives, i bent them into the car. It still rubs a little but ive just been drivimg about with nobody in the back.

I need help with this, the plan is to lower it but how low will stop the rubbing. Obviously aftermarket suspension is stiffer but will it stop the rubbing? I was just going to angle grind the metal bracket thing off, is this a good idea?? Its not holding the bumper on cos ive bent them back.

    Thanks

what tyres you got on? you will need low profiles on, if that doesnt work smaller wheels?

get smaller alloys or try small spacers to bring the wheel out away from inner arch.

Going lower will make it rub more. Either get smaller wheels, or a lower profile tyre.

Got toyo proxie low proxies on the front but they dont look like em off the back. I got spacers on the rear. So a general no to angle grinding off the metal plate?? Ill get a picture up now

I meant iTs got proxies all round. Ill get low profires for the rear. Any idea how much im looking at for 2x 16mm low profile proxxies??

Put 15s on, 16 inch alloys are to big for slammed saxos unless you have done arch work.

What size rubber are you running?

Best size to avoid scrubbage in 16s is 195 40 16.

they should'nt rub if you've got the right tyres & the correct size spacers ive got 16s with 195/40/16 tyres on and they have never rubbed front or back, I would say that they are too close to the inner arch if they are rubbing but obviously could'nt really say without seeing.

    Maybe you need new shocks?
