Driveshaft Noise with alloys?

  1. #1
So i purchased this in march and am currently doing lessons, £500 + 100 for wheels with 11mts MOT ... he told me the slight noise on the test drive with std wheels on and my step dad said it shouldnt be anything major - About 2 weeks later i fitted the alloys and the noise became very loud when slowing down/turning and is like knocking, is this the driveshaft? And do you have to replace both as i think the noise is coming from drivers side.

    Ignore the hideous shaped exhaust

Is it coming from the back? If so the tyres will be rubbing on the arches, i got this when i fitted VTR alloys on my flat arch.

you dont have to change both shafts at the same time

Okay, well i think its the right, any cheap places to get them from? And do i need any additional stuff or just the driveshaft?

if you drain the gearbox oil into a container you can reuse it, so you wont need that. Other than that you can replace the diff seals (where the driveshafts go into the box) but theyre only a couple of quid each.

if your quick enough, you wont lose much oil if you quickly throw in the new driveshaft quickly

Is it a complicated job btw?

its a very easy straight forward job if your somewhat mechanically minded and you've done random jobs on cars before
