Clicking under dash?

  1. #1
    Hello

I have literally just put my rocker covers back on and sealed them
I went to take the car for a test drive and it started clicking from under the dash

I traced it to one of the relays in the fuse box
It's a grey relay if this helps
There are 6 relays, three at the top and three at the bottom
It's the bottom right relay if you are looking directly at them

    Anyone know what this does?

Do I just replace the relay?

Everything seems to be working in the car and it's never done it before

    Cheers

if it sounds like an indicator type click, but more random then its the indicator stalk thats fucked, sending a bad signal to the relay i think. mine has done it intermitantly for a year. doesnt affect anything just an anoying noise every now and again.

I had the same clicking noise but i took mine to the garage where they tried to charged me £10 to tell me it was a relay (I told them it was a relay to start with) and that i could change it but it might still do it

It does sound like the indicators are on constantly, clicks randomly

Only started doing it today, so glad im selling this thing lol

Do I need a new stalk or a new relay?

Is it worth removing the relay, cleaning and putting back?

If not, will go to scrappie on Saurday

on mine if it starts doing the clicking,, i can move the indicator stalk ever so gently like less than millimeter up or down and it stops. then let go and it restarts. its a bad conection inside i believe. common fault.

no its not the realay, its the indictor switch.

not done one on the sax, i just live with it on mine, its character, but i assume at the worst case, itl be steering cowel top and bottom, maybe stering wheel. couple of wires and a few small bolts. not a big or hard job normaly.

thers torx bolts i believe holding the cowels together from the underside, some bolts from the back of the wheel holding the airbag on, a squib to disconect from the back of the airbag once the airbag is actualy loose, probly a 24 or 27mm nut holding the wheel on, then itl be more torx's holding the stalk in place.
