Where to find cam type?

    Think my black top 8v has aftermarket cam. Ive had the rock cover off but cant see any markings but its a bit hard to see under the rockers? Is there anywhere I should be looking?

    Was told it was cammed by the previous owner. Its not in the car as I bought it on a pallet, it supposedly came out of an ex rally car.

    As for the Cam, Stamps will be on the shaft

    Who knows, gotta try it yet. If it is i'm going Jp4. Do I have to take the rockers out to get a look at the shaft?

    Shouldn't do mate, just turn the engine over and you'll soon see any markings

    Right ive done the cambelt and had the cam cover off - all I can make out stamped on the cam is a 3 on one side near the middle and a 7 and an 8 on the other side of the cam (when turning). The 7 and the 8 look like theres other marks after them but I cant make it out. I was looking in from the inlet manifold side of the engine. Any ideas?

    My standard one hasn't got that, I'm not sure what type of Cam that is

    Wait and see if anyone else knows mate.

    Ive had a look and yeah its definately those numbers, up near the coilpack end there is a triangle shape on the cam itself. Ive read these numbers might be manufacture dates? Whats does your standard vtr cam have?

    No stamps, That's what I thought you was gona say lol.

    I thought you was gona say you couldn't find any stamps...

    It'll be interesting to see what it is, unless it's because mine is MK2 Cam and yours is MK1? Ehh who knows Citroen used random stuff in Saxo's.

    It depended what they had to hand in their factories lol.

    Its a standard 106 xsi cam. What I meant was will this run on a roller cammed VTR injection setup? single plug ecu etc
