im looking for a basic induction kit for my 1.1 the k and n 57i seems to be good enought for what i want what i dont understand is what the smaller filter is that comes out of the rocker cover iv seen this in a few threads and not sure if ths is part of the kit or what it does??

im sure thats the oil breather mate

ahhh right makes sense. does it have anything to do with the induction ?

It's the rocker cover breather pipe. Most people ether put a little filter on the end or drill it into the induction kit. I think the KnK have a external point for it tho.

you need either the breather pipe or an oil catch tank to relieve the pressure in the head of the engine m8, if you have the breather pipe going to the induction kit then you having oily air going into the throttle body and maifold ect causing a greasy build up over time doing this is ok but not ideal, were as if you have an oil catch tank then the oil and dirty air is going to this, this is better as the engine is getting cleaner air but you are still relieveing the pressure build up in the engine

ya either catch tank or little air filter on the breather hole, the only prob with the filter is it tends to spray oil all over the engine bay best bet catch tank ebay £20-£30 jobs then done properly they look great in the engine bay as well
