Locking nut troubles :(

  1. #1
was going to check my front brakes today, went to use the locking nut key, and it kept slipping of because the locking nut is really worn so cant get a grip on it anymore. So tried hammering a socket over the top and this happened:

The head of the locking nut came of and wont go back in

so now im left with that in the picture, so went and bought a locking nut remover from halfords, it grips but as theres not much to grip onto it just gets stuck solid.

any suggestions as to the next course of action

Something like that would do the job, just need to drill a hole into the centre of the bolt, then srew away

Can you not get some mole grips round it, Know its the ideal situation but might be worth a try
