suggestions, locking nut. pic inside

  1. #1
was going to check my front brakes today, went to use the locking nut key, and it kept slipping of because the locking nut is really worn so cant get a grip on it anymore. So tried hammering a socket over the top and this happened:

The head of the locking nut came of and wont go back in

so now im left with that in the picture, so went and bought a locking nut remover from halfords, it grips but as theres not much to grip onto it just gets stuck solid.

any suggestions as to the next course of action
