Not sure if this is the right section so sorry if its not, but I was wondering is there any way of firming up the handling as my car seems a bit allover the place lately. It is already lowered 50mm. It used to feel alot more firm if u know what i mean.. anyway what im asking is there anything i can replace to make it better or is it just something i have to live with from the wear over the years? Oh by the way its a mk2 vtr
cheers

#4I have an apex 50mm kit with the uprated shocks so dont think thats it and I got it tracked when i fitted the lowering kit so i don't really think thats it but maybe could get it done again
-
#5you can upgraded the mounts stiffen the springs, lower and upper strut braces
-
#6thanks for the suggestions, had a look on google and think i may have sorted it i found a guide on there that says sometimes the powersteering can get an air lock and to turn left to right on full lock a few times to try and get rid of it so I went out and tried it and the steering wheel feels alot firmer! im just hopeing it will stay like that but if not its gotta be something to do with the pump right?

#7Maybe a bush or something has perished
Something like a powerflex kit may be useful just check over all the wishbone and beam mounts see if any are cracked or split on the rubber -
#8as said wheel alignment, shocks all ok......maybe a lower arm bush is worn
-
#9Yeah I think im gonna go get it up on the axel stands inabit and check it out see if anythings knackered, cheers

#11Take a look in the engine bay at the centre joint on the rack while someone rocks the steering, you will see the joint move up and down aswell as side to side,
This is because of the angle of the track rods now the car has been lowered,
Before the track rods where straight and pushing the rod straight when the wheel is turned but since lowering the angle is now uphill to the strut and trying to push up aswell as sideways, you may see a lot of movement in which case your rack may be worn (mine is and i need a new one as it knocks sometimes),
It may be something simple like a worn rod end or centre joint buts odds on its to do with the rack,
There was a great fix for this with the old beetles they called it a bump steer kit to eliminate the steering jerk when hitting a bump they basically allow the track rod end to be fitted underneath on the strut thus making the angle of the track rod similar to standard and improving the feel of the steering,
Hope this helps and apologies for the essay. -
#12cheers m8 ill take a look at that too
