Cambelt issue

   Hi im new to this site and wondered if any1 could help with a noise i have coming from my cambelt?
   
   When i start my 2000 model VTR it has a squeaking noise coming from it does it mean its on its way out ?

   has it been done before? might be too tight, sure its not the alternator belt?

   Its hasn't been changed before its done 90,000 and its just started in the last few days !
   
   Havent checked the alternator belt , Where is that as im novice with mechanics lol !?
   
   How much will this cost to reaper or replace ??

   Its the belt that comes off the alternator. Could be the alternator itself if the bearings have shot.

   yeah id check out the alternator first, could just take off the belt and see if it still makes the noise without that, you're cambelt could really do with changing if it hasnt been done before though.

   hey i looked at the belt took it off no noise at all when off ... by chance i was just checking my levels as ya do and notice my rad had very little water in it so toped up with coolant and water and ran on idle for a while and hey presto no squeaking sound
   
   Very very strange though im guna have my rad checked ove by a m8 mechanic to be on the safe side ..
