    Hi mate

Rules say you can't use text talk so try and make your next post easier to read

Blue smoke could be the stem seals, if you do a quick search on here it has been covered quite a few times

It's burning oil so could also be shagged piston rings or HG

yea it could do as your losing compression, is it actually miss-firing? , also is it a turbo diesel 306 (HDi) or anything, as blue smoke=oil burning and a knackered turbo would give you loss of power

sorry about the text talk lol, its a 1.4 petrol lx mate, its not missfiring but when i start it sometimes it revs higher than usual, what would be the best place to start as im doing the work myself

First off, compression test as that will tell you whether its the HG
Most garages will do it for free if they think your gonna use them to get it fixed

Blue smoke is burning oil so somehow the oil is getting into the combustion chamber and being ignited.

Looking at other threads its more likely to be valve stem seals than HG or rings

Is there any white gunk when you lift off the oil filler cap? This would indicate HG

I 'believe' (could be wrong) that you need to remove the head to change the stem seals and you may as well whack a new HG on while your there anyway.

How many miles has the engine done?

its dun 102 k but seemed a gud runner till this, the oil looks clean and it doesent look runny as if water has got in, i want to replace the head gasket anyway just incase and what are the stem seals mate are they to do with the stem bolts and would it be best to change the cambelt aswell

    http://www.ehow.com/facts_7872749_valve-stem-seals.html

They basically prevent oil from being sucked into the combustion chamber

To be honest mate, if you are removing the head anyway you may as well do everything:

    Valve stem seals
    Headgasket
    Cambelt
    Oil change
    Coolant change

Also may need the head skimmed

it only started happenin today so i think the head should be ok, i can get the complete gasket kit brand new for cheap enough, is it easy enough to do

Suggestion for you mate before you go spending out get a compression test done.
