#2well yeah you could set any car to run when leaving the vehicle.
They are usually only fitted to boosted cars to allow the blower to return to low rpm and so wont fuck up when turning it off -
#3they also allow oil to circulate in the turbo unil its properly coold down

turbo timers can be fitted to any car most people fit them to turbo'd cars to let the oil cool down and lower the rpm of the turbo fan and bearings to drop before stopping oil circulation.
some people fit them on n/a cars to let the oil cool down after a hard run or a long drive. Supposedly it keeps the bearings in better condition and reduces wear on the engine. -

#7They are pretty pointless though mite as well just sit in your car whilst it idles for 60 seconds rather than paying for a box to do it for you.
