Driveshaft Nut

  1. #1
    Hi all
Is the drivers side driveshaft nut / hub nut (the thing that keeps the driveshaft in the hub on the wheel) a reverse thread?
i cant for the life of me get it off. butchered it hammered, used breaker bars, bent extensions you name it the nut wont budge. passenger side came off easy.
please help, cant put new engine in without sortin this pain in the arse out

normal thread, the nut is tightened too 250 nm, so will be very tight

I thought it was normal thread, what would you suggest i do to get it off. we have tried everythin. only thing left is a blow torch and melt it off.

id try and get someone with a air compressor and gun too have a go, failing that find a long scaffold bar too give yourself more leverage.

As a last resort you could jack up the front of the car, lock the other drive shaft, then with a breaker bar on the seized nut wedged against the floor, either crank the engine over, or have it running and "set off" normally. This would free any nut that was ever going to be freed.
