its fine by me but dibble may have something to say about it, illegal
  3. #3
unless you live on a private or unadopted road in which case on insurance is needed
  4. #4
No m.o.t normally means that your insurance is void. Unless you have it insured as Sorn.

No, it is not illegal - it is perfectly fine to park an untested vehicle on a public road, as long as you are not using it.

The Law states the vehicle must have a valid MOT to be used on a road.

its a grey patch. where does it say there, "its fine to park an untested vehicle on the public highway"

it doesnt. it being parked, on a public road, it has the potential to be used, it would have been used to get there and it will be used to leave there.
just because he says its not being used, who the fuck knows the truth?

the Law, and someones word of mouth, dont tend to agree much when the law can be making an income from it.

if your vehicle isnt insured, taxed or mot, and Vosa decide to drive by and spot it, they will just pick it up and take it. the second they see it, you cant do fuck all to stop them.

Like most laws, they are written so you have to interpret what they actually mean.

    Personally, I wouldn't risk it
As tonto says, if VOSA happen to be passing they will probably tow it away and it will be bye bye car

In the wording. "Used", when referring to a motor vehicle, means to drive it.

An Act Of Law states what you can not do, listing specific exceptions. It doesn't list what you can do. Therefore, if what you intend to do is not listed on an Act Of Law, then you are not breaking the Law. Its as simple as that really. Too many people just think the police can go round doing what they want, making rules up as they go along.

Its all pretty clear if you can understand the legal terminology.

    For example...

(2)For the purposes of this section a vehicle meets the insurance requirements if—
(a)it is covered by a such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks as complies with the requirements of this Part of this Act, and
(b)either of the following conditions is satisfied.

(3)The first condition is that the policy or security, or the certificate of insurance or security which relates to it, identifies the vehicle by its registration mark as a vehicle which is covered by the policy or security.

(4)The second condition is that the vehicle is covered by the policy or security because—
(a)the policy or security covers any vehicle, or any vehicle of a particular description, the owner of which is a person named in the policy or security or in the certificate of insurance or security which relates to it, and
(b)the vehicle is owned by that person.

(5)For the purposes of this section a vehicle is covered by a policy of insurance or security if the policy of insurance or security is in force in relation to the use of the vehicle.
Translated - it is now illegal - an offence - breaking the law, if you are the registered keeper of a car and don't insure it (or SORN it), where ever it is kept.

    Simple
